Mardi Gras Floats

Mardi Gras Float Builders

We design and build parade floats for Sydney's proudest celebration. Whatever your vision, we bring the creative craft and technical compliance to make it parade-ready.

Mardi Gras floats that do more than just sparkle

A Mardi Gras float might look like a simple creative project. But it's one of the most technically complex builds we do. It needs to survive moving at 60km/h+ on the way to the parade, meet parade compliance, look incredible and coordinate with hundreds of other floats on a fixed schedule.

We handle all of it. The engineering to make sure your float survives transport and parade conditions, the compliance to meet every council requirement and the logistics to coordinate with parade organisers.

We design and build our parade floats for community groups, corporate sponsors, LGBTQ+ organisations, councils and brands celebrating diversity. Single float builds or multi-vehicle parade entries, we deliver the same engineering precision and creative collaboration to every project.

The crafted process we use has been created for complex, high-stakes builds where creative vision and technical precision need to work together. Which leaves you free to experience parade night the way it should be. Excitement, pride and a chance to enjoy the night with everybody else.

Our crafted process

Building a Mardi Gras float means bringing your vision to one of Sydney's most important nights, but it doesn't have to be an anxious journey. Our carefully crafted, step-by-step process (with detailed timelines, designs broken down into bite-sized pieces, to make decision making simple and easy) is designed to bring you inside the process you're usually shut out of… so instead of getting "she'll be right", you get clarity, order and reassurance… every step of the way.

01

Brief

01

Your float vision kicks off the process.

Bold Sydney parade float concepts don't always fit parade budgets, and that's part of the process. We collaborate with you to shape the float design until the creative vision, the budget reality and the parade timeline sync up perfectly.
02

Plan

02

We engineer everything in advance, so your float isn't left to chance.

Our engineering team specifies every structural component and decorative element while your project manager walks you through each decision in clear language. You'll always understand what's being constructed, why engineering choices matter and what each milestone means.
03

Production

03

Two things develop in tandem. Float construction and parade logistics.

While our build team constructs your float in the workshop, your project manager coordinates the parade plan with you. Transport logistics, parade marshalling, compliance documentation, participant briefings. Every requirement is locked in well before parade night.
04

Install

04

We arrive at the parade assembly point ready to go.

Your float is stress-tested in our workshop before parade night arrives. We assemble every section to confirm structural integrity, transport it safely to the staging area and brief your parade crew on the complete plan. By the time the parade begins, you're free to celebrate.
05

Pack

05

After the parade wraps, we transport your float back and store it safely.

Once the parade route ends, our team collects the float and returns it to our workshop for storage or decommissioning. You finish the night celebrating a parade perfectly executed, while we handle everything else.

Questions

Find answers to
common questions.

What is a custom Mardi Gras float?

A custom Mardi Gras float is a purpose-built parade entry designed to showcase your brand, community group, or message at Sydney's iconic Mardi Gras parade with maximum visibility and impact.

Do you handle parade compliance and organiser requirements?

We work with you to manage all Mardi Gras parade compliance, including engineering certifications, safety documentation, height and weight restrictions, and coordination with parade organisers to ensure your float meets all requirements.

How long before parade night should I get in touch?

We recommend reaching out 3–4 months before parade night to allow time for concept development, compliance approvals, fabrication, and testing. Rush builds may be possible depending on availability.

Can you build a Mardi Gras float for entrants based outside Sydney?

Yes. We coordinate with interstate and regional entrants, managing design remotely, fabricating at our Sydney workshop, and delivering your completed float ready for parade assembly and rehearsal.

Can my float be designed to store and reuse next year?

Yes. We can design Mardi Gras floats to be modular, durable, and storable for reuse. Floats can be refreshed with updated themes, branding, or elements between years.

How is pricing structured for a custom Mardi Gras float?

We collaborate with you to align your parade vision with budget and timeline, then deliver a quote and build strategy covering design, engineering, compliance, materials, fabrication, and delivery.

Can your team develop the creative concept too?

Yes. We offer full creative concept development, 3D visualisations, and design services for Mardi Gras floats. Alternatively, we can bring your existing concept or artist's vision to life.
